Our experience includes the restoration and renovation of old Greek houses in the heart of the village. Buying an old property can involve more legal complications than buying a newly built property. Old buildings are often owned by a number of people in one family and have, more often than not, been left in a will to be divided amongst siblings. These situations then call for careful negotiation to ensure all family members are in agreement and satisfied with the terms of the sale.
Older buildings often have historical value attached to them and, therefore, any restoration or modernization has to be carried out in line with the requirements of the Department of National Heritage and those of the local authority.
We have very successfully completed a number of projects in this very specialist field.

The Ivy
House
The Ivy House is a first degree protected house in Kalkan's old quarter.
We were required by national heritage rules to preserve the original
façade
of the house making this project an extremely challenging undertaking.
The restoration project involved the construction of a steel frame within
the original walls and was the first of its kind in the area. The project
was successfully completed on time and to budget and to the satisfaction
of our client and the Department of National Heritage.
As part of our "aftercare" service we successfully negotiated
a contract with a UK tour operator on behalf of our client and continue
to manage and maintain the property for them. Please look at our Picture
Gallery for more images.
Kate's House
Kate's
House involved a particularly complicated purchase process as the house
was owned by what seemed like half the inhabitants of Kalkan! The case
was unique in that its success depended on a huge degree of trust between
the buyer of the property and us, the Agent. The situation required the
entire purchase money to be paid up-front in order to pay the many house
owners their individual share of the purchase price.

This very old
Greek house was renovated and extended with all its original features
restored and has subsequently been featured in The Sunday Times and at
present there is interest to open the house to the public as an art gallery.

In 2007/2008 we carried out 2 renovation projects for clients on the private Likya Estate in Kalkan. The villas had both been untouched since they were originally built and the brief was to gut, extend, fully renovate and modernize both houses also constructing a swimming pool in the garden of one of the properties.
