May 2017  –  Korsan Continued ….

Dear Korsan friends,

I hope you have all already arranged your schedules for your next Kalkan visit and are counting down the days until your return.

I think I speak for all business owners in Kalkan, and for the entire Turquoise coast, when I say that we are all working full steam ahead and doing everything we can to increase the visitor numbers to Kalkan for the season ahead.

I do think we are in for a slightly better season than last year.  Yes, it might be a season of discounted rates and last minute deals however I am certain that, by the end of October, we will be in a better place than we were in October 2016.   With almost forty years of experience in tourism in Kalkan I hope my confidence in the market will be of some reassurance to those feeling less positive.

With this positive attitude as the driving force Korsan continues to invest, innovate and expand.

This year’s additions to the Korsan family are:

Nar Evi, is the latest property added to our own villa portfolio.  It is a beautiful three bedroomed villa located just a short walk from both the beach clubs in Kalamar bay.  With its 3 ensuite bedrooms Nar Evi is perfect for small families or couples who want the luxury of a bit more space and a private pool.

Tas Evi, is our latest bespoke villa project.  The construction team has been hard at work since early November and the property is now complete (in fact handed over to the cleaning team today!)  it is a beautiful front line property with five en suite bedrooms and just a couple of minutes’ walk from town.

ko.co. (an abbreviation of Korsan Continued …. and an appropriate name for this blog!) is our new baby.  Situated next door to Korsan Meze and the Fish Terrace, it is quite simply a site that we should have taken over years ago. I might often talk proudly of all my years’ experience in the business (!) but I still sometimes make the wrong call and not expanding into this property a long time ago was one of them!

One thing I have definitely learned over the years is that there is no such thing as taking a back seat, particularly in the service industry in an area like Kalkan where we are up against huge competition.  So, come and see for yourselves, ko.co. is the perfect spot for pre-dinner or after dinner drinks.  There are also a few new ideas in the pipeline for Meze and the Fish Terrace but these are still ‘work in progress’ for now.

The most exciting addition to the Korsan family is our new purchase of an olive oil factory in Caykoy.  Caykoy is a 15-minute drive from Kalkan towards Islamlar and in the direction of Uzumlu.  The factory is a going concern fully equipped with up-to-date olive processing machinery and with the capacity to handle 60 tons of olives a day.  In addition to this high-volume production we will of course continue with our cold press olive oil and have purchased a new press and automated olive washing machine to produce an even more superior oil.  The cold press equipment will be in a separate building processing only green olives.   In addition to the factory buildings there is an olive grove on the six acres of land so there is a lot to do and a lot to learn.

Claire and I will be writing to all our villa owners shortly regarding the new procedure for registering villa guests. Information was initially not very forth coming on this but we are now fully registered on the official system and up and running with the new procedure.

Love to everyone and sincere best wishes for a prosperous and happy season.

Uluc
