Time goes by unbelievably quickly, a third of the season is behind us, it is already 3 weeks since the Turkish school holidays started and…..the July heat is here!
To date it has been a fantastic season. We were all a little worried a few weeks ago during the demonstrations in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir but thankfully things calmed down and life carried on in Kalkan as usual. The British are a very resilient bunch and were not put off by problems elsewhere.
The restaurants, which are the most time and energy consuming part of our summer business, are doing brilliantly well. The weeks at the beginning of the season that can sometimes be quiet weren’t and it should be full house every night from now on in the Meze and Fish Terrace until the end of October….. fingers crossed!
The first of our two ‘build to sell’ villas in Kalamar Bay is now completed. One of the joys of building to sell is that we can take our time to complete and change and toy with ideas along the way. We are delighted with what we have acheived, the results are fantastic. The permanently secured view is stunning … we picked the plots very carefully! The vista is beautiful with 180 panorama of the entire bay. We have combined contemporary modern living with a stylishly classic feel.
The 700 msq plot, less the 125 msq footprint of the villa gives us pleanty of space outside for two pools, 3 levels of pool platforms (one level 100 msq and shaded). There are plenty of green boarders and flower beds so very little feeling of burning concrete at the height of the day.
We have used lots of high end technology on this project. There is a cctv system with continual recording and display monitors, underfloor heating systems for all year round use with individual control switches for each room and bathroom, security alarm system with remote control facility, private terrace jacuzzi/hot tub, main pool jet waterfall, irrigation sytem for flower beds, salt chlorinator system for pool so no chlorine needed, remote controlled black out curtain for terrace skylight, heat and cold resistant double glazing, low consumption LED recessed lighting throughout.
All bedrooms have sea views, all have great sized ensuite bathrooms with rain showers. The master bedroom ensuite has his and hers basins, a free standing bath with sea views as well as a wet room shower. There is plenty of lockable storage space for buyers planning to rent, even secret cupboard space which we will reveal only to potential buyers!
Now that the property is completed we will start to actively promote it and hopefully sell it and continue to manage, market and maintain it for the proud new owners for many years to come.
On another subject, we are very happy to announce that Korsan are now working with Kalkan Concierge Wedding Planners. We have been asked many many times in the past to organize weddings and have arranged a few wonderful ones but just haven’t had the time nor the personel to pursue this with the attention it needs. We are therefore delighted that Korsan Ltd will be providing the catering services for Kalkan Concierge Weddings with Kalkan Concierge handling all other aspects.
I usually like to stick to business on my blog but I have to mention what a great day Claire and I had at Wimbledon on Saturday 29th June with our great friends Jeremy and Suzanne…. come on Murray for the final today!!
